An RPM primer
The basic RPM commands are:
- to install (update) an RPM
$ rpm -Uvh
- to check if an RPM is installed
$ rpm -q
- to get information on an RPM package from its file
$ rpm -qpi
- to get information on an RPM package that has been installed
$ rpm -qi
- to get a list of files in an RPM package
$ rpm -qlp
- to get a list of dependencies of an RPM package
$ rpm -qp --requires
- to get a list of packages that depend on this rpm package
$ rpm -q --whatrequires
This should be enough to get you going.
